Thank you for participating in the Spring 2017 Campus Conference! The strong signal from that discussion was that we need to quickly evolve and become more like the elite private STEM-focused universities (RPI, WPI, Rice, Stanford, CalTech, MIT, etc.), especially with respect to recruitment, retention and graduation of students, student and faculty support services, and creating distinctive programs and experiences unique to Mines.

I mentioned that we will provide opportunities for Mines community input as we shape our strategic initiatives and priorities over the next few months. This blog site will be our primary vehicle for collecting and archiving input in real-time.

One of the first things we would like your feedback on are the key defining characteristics for Mines.  The “Mines Pillars” define aspects of Mines that will stay constant, even as we change. The “Mission and Core Values” define who we are and what binds us together.  Both are based on input you have previously provided in individual and group conversations over the past couple of years.
